The suggestion that water has an important role in achieving weight loss goals is taken skeptically. It turns out that water can be very effective. Fact is that large proportion of our body is water - 70% of the lean muscles, body fat and bones are at about 20% made by water, and our blood - over 80%. It's not surprising that water is crucial for our existence.
But how water can help you lose weight? Obviously drinking water itself is not the way. Losing gradually and surely your weight, then eating right and drinking right are the two major components of natural weight loss method.
Let's say something about eating right.
First, try to eat "good fats" but not "bad fats". Good fats provide essential fatty acids, and help in preventing blood clotting and lower risk of heart failure. "Good fats" we can find in Salmon, Mackerel, Herrings and Sardines.
"Good proteins" is another point of eating right. Proteins prevent food cravings and we can find them in low fat milk products such as skimmed milk, cottage cheese, fish and yogurt.
Carbohydrates contained in vegetables, fruits and whole grains are metabolized slowly by the body and act like natural hunger-suppressants.
Eat adequate fiber food. Good fiber foods do not contribute much of calories and they are filling. They thus help in suppressing hunger. Moreover fiber does not get digested by the body and while passing through the body it attaches to some of the fats and proteins that we eat; thus they are taken out of the system without being digested! Apples, figs, broccoli, strawberries, brown rice, beans, bran and nuts are good fiber foods.
Fiber in the food have to be taken in adequate quantities. Fibers do not contribute to your calorie intake, but create the feeling of being full which helps in suppressing hunger. Fibers do not get digested in gastrointestinal tract and while passing they attach and drag some of the fats and proteins that we eat, preventing their digestion. Fibers are essential for our easier digestion, and highly recommended especially if you suffer from digestion problems like IBD (Inflammatory bowel disease), peptic ulcers or GERD. Foods rich in fibers are apples, figs, strawberries, beans, nuts, brown rice and broccoli.
How water involves in burning of fats?
Evidence that water helps in weight comes from researches in Germany. They found that water increases the rate of fat burning. The subjects of the research drank approximately 17 ounces of water and their metabolic rates were measured. It was found that it increased by 30% for both men and women. Estimated calories that could be burned by increasing water consumption by 1.5 liters a day, were at about 17,400 which is about five pounds of weight loss. This increasing in metabolism was found to be caused by extra calorie burning in body's attempt to heat the ingested water. These findings were reported in the December issue of The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism.
Other important role of water in weight reducing is the fact that drinking water fulls your stomach. So the hunger passes and cravings - reduced.
As we can see taking your "Eight glasses of water" daily is worth trying.
